AVEVA announces new research collaboration with IMD
AVEVA, a global leader in industrial software, has launched a three-year research collaboration with IMD Business School to explore how organisations can use industrial intelligence to build, orchestrate and scale business ecosystems.
Industrial intelligence, the integration of data-driven insight enhanced by industrial AI and human expertise, underpins AVEVA’ s approach to helping organisations unlock value from complex ecosystems. Led by IMD Professors Michael Wade and Mark Greeven, the research will examine how companies across sectors including manufacturing, energy, transport and data centres can break down silos, empower workers and innovate at scale using data.
The programme will focus on several critical themes, including the role of AI in managing ecosystems, how global business networks can accelerate the energy transition and circularity, the evolution of ecosystem-powered business models and how organisations can redefine partnerships while managing risk and compliance.
“ By combining AVEVA’ s deep industrial expertise with IMD’ s applied research focus, we are exploring how industrial intelligence can address higher-order business challenges,” said Caspar Herzberg, CEO of AVEVA.“ This collaboration will identify the success factors organisations must prioritise to drive resilience, sustainability and operational efficiency.”
Stefan Michel, Dean of Faculty and Research at IMD, said:“ As business ecosystems evolve at unprecedented speed, leaders need actionable frameworks grounded in real-world experience. By

combining IMD’ s academic rigour with AVEVA’ s industry insight, this research delivers practical guidance to help organisations translate ecosystem strategies into measurable outcomes.”
Tampere city region chooses Fujitsu to deliver and develop the area’ s ICT services
Fujitsu has announced that the Tampere urban region has selected Fujitsu Finland Oy as its partner to manage ICT services across nine municipalities.
The seven-year framework agreement covers workstation services for municipal employees, as well as early childhood education and school staff and pupils. The estimated annual value of the agreement is approximately € 22 million, with a total potential value of up to € 250 million.
Under the agreement, Fujitsu Finland will be responsible for a broad range of ICT services, including user support, device lifecycle management, cybersecurity, cloud services, identity management, and operations and capacity services. Fujitsu will also develop and modernise the Tampere region’ s IT infrastructure and information systems, optimising performance while supporting future growth.
A total of 55,500 workstations will be brought under Fujitsu’ s management. The company will ensure the secure and reliable operation of ICT environments for municipal employees, early childhood education and schools, while continuously improving service delivery. Automation and Artificial Intelligence will be used to streamline routine tasks, improve the user experience and proactively identify and resolve technical issues.
Sustainability forms a core part of the partnership. Fujitsu will support the region’ s climate goals by reducing environmental impact across the ICT service chain. Local support services will be delivered carbon-neutrally, data centre operations will prioritise energy efficiency and device services will focus on extending lifecycles through responsible logistics, recycling and lifecycle management.
