INDUSTRY APPOINTMENTS Veeam appoints Kate Hutchison as Chief Marketing Officer Veeam Software announced that Kate Hutchison has been appointed Chief Marketing Officer. Hutchison will lead Veeam’s global marketing organisation and continue to strengthen the company’s brand momentum as the Availability provider for applications, data, cloud. Hutchison will report directly to Veeam Co- CEO and President, Peter McKay. Hutchison brings to Veeam more than 20 years of experience as CMO at a variety of software and hardware technology companies, including Riverbed, Polycom, VMware, Citrix and BEA. Most recently, Hutchison was Senior Vice President and CMO of Riverbed. Hutchison successfully led Riverbed through a re-positioning and re- branding effort that took the company into a much larger – approximately 11x larger – market overall. Prior to Riverbed, Hutchison was Executive Vice President and CMO at Polycom, a leader in business-grade conferencing communications solutions. Preceding Polycom, Hutchison was CMO and Vice President of Marketing for VMware, where she expanded the company’s position from a hypervisor vendor to a provider of virtualisation solutions to help customers build private and public clouds. Prior to VMware, Hutchison helped Citrix develop the strategy to double the company’s revenue to $1B in revenue in three years, and emerge as the leader in application access and delivery. Yarob Sakhnini joins Juniper Networks as Head of META Juniper Networks announced that Yarob Sakhnini has been appointed as Head of Middle East, Turkey and Africa. In this role, Sakhnini is responsible for all aspects of sales strategy, planning and operations across Juniper’s Middle East, Turkey and Africa business. Prior to joining Juniper, Sakhnini held several senior management and technical posts at Brocade Communications. He previously worked for Foundry, 3Com and CNS, also in technical and sales roles. Throughout his career of more than 20 years in the high-tech industry, Sakhnini has focused on Middle East, Turkey and Africa and has thorough knowledge and understanding of the region’s market landscape across service providers, private enterprises and the public sector. SAS promotes Alaa Youssef to Managing Director for Middle East Analytics software leader SAS has promoted Alaa Youssef to Managing Director for its Middle East operations. In this expanded role, he will have additional management responsibilities in the Middle East for the Gulf and Emerging Markets sales and operations teams, as well as his already existing management of sales and operations in SAS Saudi Arabia. Since he joined SAS in 2011, Alaa Youssef has served in a variety of leadership capacities within the professional services, sales and operations business units of Saudi Arabia. During his leadership, the Saudi Arabian sales team solidified SAS’ position in banking and telecom industries, and expanded SAS’ presence into utilities including oil and gas. Alaa has over 20 years of experience working in the ICT sector. He has held managing positions in several multinational technology companies. He is a Saudi national with more than 20 years of experience of technology solutions for both enterprise and government sectors.
