Westcon-Comstor survey highlights channel response to hardware supply pressures

Almost nine in 10 channel partners are taking steps to minimise the impact of hardware pricing volatility and memory shortages, according to new research from Westcon-Comstor.

The distributor’ s survey of its global Tech Xpert community found that 87 % of partners are adopting measures to help keep customer projects on track, with project delays identified as the biggest risk arising from supply constraints and pricing pressures.
According to the findings, changing hardware availability is forcing partners to redesign or revalidate solutions when components become unavailable or product specifications change, increasing both project complexity and delivery times.
Nearly one-third( 29 %) of respondents said they had switched vendors or platforms because of availability issues. Improved infrastructure capacity planning was the most common response, cited by 60 % of partners, while others reported increasing their use of managed services and infrastructure optimisation to reduce dependence on memory-intensive workloads.
“ Hardware pricing volatility and supply constraints are reshaping customer buying
Callum McGregor decisions and having a profound impact on the IT channel,” said Callum McGregor, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, Westcon-Comstor.
“ In response, partners are helping customers plan earlier, adapt architectures and stay flexible so they can keep projects moving despite uncertainty. That ability to balance immediate performance and long-term requirements is becoming increasingly critical. It also demonstrates the strategic role that channel partners, supported by distribution, can play in building resilience and helping customers navigate the pressures that have quickly become a systemic feature of the market.”
