There is a drive to sovereign cloud in EMEA and Nutanix allows the deployment onpremises of the same architecture as the hyper-scalers .
For a service provider , that architecture was an anchor which never allowed them to compete with AWS on Azure . Nutanix is the architecture of Google brought to on-premises , and this architecture is scaleout . Every hyper-scaler has copied Google ’ s architecture and now Managed Service Providers on-premises can do so , too .
Which technologies and innovations can make a difference to the channel market dynamics in the near future ?
Let me suggest three .
The first is Generative AI . The problem with this is that most of the AI tools are in the cloud , but most of the data that the tools need to learn from are on-premises or at the Edge . Using GPT-in-a-Box on-premises , Nutanix allows innovative solutions to be created for clients such as transforming helpdesk response times , sales responding to RFPs and being able to generate code .
The second is Dev-Ops as a Service with Kubernetes Management . One of the age long challenges for IT has been balancing a fixed amount of IT equipment for developers to use to test their code . There is never enough kit and developers think that IT is holding them up . Service providers could take this business over , give the developers a portal and allow them to provision capacity from a private cloud with the MSP managing charge back and using an Open-Source Kubernetes Management Platform .
Every hyper-scaler has copied Google ’ s architecture and now Managed Service Providers on-premises can do so , too .
And a third would be to address the problem of database sprawl where companies are trying to manage thousands or even tens of thousands of databases . What is needed is a service similar to AWS ’ s RDS but for on-premises databases , and Nutanix has such a service , allowing service providers to provide a managed service for Oracle , Postgres , SQL Server , mySQL and MongoDB .
How can a channel partner disrupt the regional market and gain a leading competitive position ?
Learn from AWS , Azure and Google . First , one has to use the same massive scale-out architecture they use . As mentioned before , Nutanix is the same architecture that all the hyperscalers use but brought to on-premises . Service providers will not be competitive with the monolithic scale- up architecture of the mainframe and focused on the hypervisor .
Second , offer some of the valueadded services that the hyper-scalers offer : Artificial Intelligence , Kubernetes Management Platform , and a Relational Database Service . Nutanix can help service providers with all of these . And third , do so fast !
