Johannesburg , named as Johannesburg 1 . “ And we have got clients who we are moving into that data centre ,” says Turnley Jones . “ Data centre is a key part of our strategy for the continent .”
Post its launch as NTT DATA Inc in the region , Dimension Data would continue to adopt a go to market of providing horizontal IT services . It would add additional services and specific offers from NTT DATA into select industry verticals where it makes sense .
Once grouped into NTT DATA , the Dimension Data team will have much more access to application platform services , driven by SAP , Salesforce , ServiceNow platforms .
However , its foundation services for which Dimension Data is known for , including product , implementation , and consulting business , and managed services , would continue . “ Managed services , more and more , is a significant growth for us ,” says Turnley Jones .
In addition to its own portfolio of services , Dimension Data would leverage application and IT services from NTT DATA as well . These include two service divisions that are consolidated as central services divisions , namely NTT DATA Business Solutions and Global Technology Services . “ We would consume services from them geographically , they might be placed in our businesses , but we would consume from them ,” explains Turnley Jones . He also believes that the way the restructuring has been set up simplifies the go to market both for Dimension Data and its customers .
Moving forward
Global restructuring and acquisitions is not new to the NTT Group and has been on- going for the last twenty years . This journey has included Dimension Data and others as well . Dimension Data has had a telecom business and a networking business and the ability to couple them together as software and services makes them more relevant to customers , and to the NTT DATA Group as well .
Where does Dimension Data plan to begin its go to market with the new NTT DATA Inc title ?
“ If you look at Sub-Saharan Africa , industries like financial services , retail , and manufacturing , which have predominantly been our strongholds , are ones that we continue to grow in . In the Middle East it is government and oil and gas ,” says Burcak Soydan , Managing Executive Middle East , Dimension Data .
Soydan summarizes , “ We have been growing spectacularly and I would say maybe a little bit even under the radar . We are one of the key providers in the government sector . If you have the skills and the value , I think the government is keen to make sure that things get done .” •
