Transition to subscription solutions creates new possibilities for partners to build services around a customer solution .
Second is modern infrastructure solutions such as Infrastructure as Code . Infrastructure as Code means teams can automatically manage , monitor , and provision infrastructure instead of using manual processes , solving many of the complexities associated with the management of sprawling IT environments .
The current economic climate has created conditions for an increase in subscription model adoption . This is driven by strong customer demand for more OpEx options in storage hardware and software purchasing . This has the dual benefit of being wrapped in Service Level Agreements as well as avoiding CapEx outlays . The channel needs to recognise that subscription transition is an attractive proposition to customers , offering them new recurring revenue streams .
Which non-competitive business do you admire for its channel drive and strategy ?
I have always had a profound admiration for the role that IT distributors play in building and growing their businesses , in what can be a highly competitive segment of the business . Especially given the advent of cloud marketplaces , and how distributors have had to evolve over recent years to continually demonstrate how they add value to our partner ecosystem .
Which aspects of your job role do you find rewarding and which challenging ?
Whilst I am very focused on the day-to-day running of our partner ecosystem at Pure Storage , the way in which I have always driven strong results over many years comes down to one thing . Focus on my team and the people . It is not just about what you say to them , or how you manage them , but how you make them feel . Making them feel part of a team , being part of something bigger than their day job , and recognising that with them , is what gives me the greatest reward .
The greatest challenge I see in my role is that of time , or lack of it . Time is the only thing you can never increase in your working week , so prioritisation is a critical success factor in separating what is urgent , what is important , and what is both urgent and important , especially when you look to achieve a healthy work-life balance .
How do you best like to de-stress and re-charge off work ?
I like to spend quality time with my family and friends , which includes family holidays and city breaks . As an enthusiastic chef , I love socialising and entertaining , preferably over a BBQ with some great drinks . I am also an enthusiastic golfer , and spending time on the golf course is a great way to de-stress and re-charge from work .
How do you think time-off will transform in the metaverse and in the digital world ?
I feel that the metaverse will change how people take and use their timeoff from work in the years ahead . As many companies continue to support a work-from-home culture , employees are perceived to have more quality time with their family and friends .
However , we know that this is not always the case . People are working longer hours than ever before , as the boundaries between work and play become more blurred . The always-on advantages that the metaverse gives companies , needs to be balanced between an employer ’ s expectations of work commitments inside and out of nontraditional working hours . This is the hidden cost of leveraging the metaverse that might not be advantageous to an employee ’ s worklife balance and wellbeing . •
