Mike Weston moves from IBM to join Gulf Business Machines as Chief Executive Officer

Gulf Business Machines , announced appointment of Mike Weston as Chief Executive Officer , for the company ’ s regional operations based out of Dubai . Weston joins from IBM , where he was most recently the Chief Revenue Officer for IBM ’ s MEA operations .

Weston has over 30 years of experience , holding multi-leadership roles in technology companies across Europe Middle East and Asia Pacific . Most recently , he had relocated with IBM from Asia to the United Arab Emirates , with the goal of transforming and leading the Technology Group business to growth , whilst overseeing and supporting many other aspects of the business .

Kris Day moves from Dell EMC to join New Relic as Senior Vice President for APJ

New Relic , an observability platform for engineers , has announced the appointment of Kris Day as Senior Vice President for Asia Pacific and Japan , to drive expansion in the region and lead the business into its next stage of growth .

Day has over two decades of sales and leadership experience in the technology industry across Europe and the Asia Pacific region , covering hardware , software , cloud and transformation specialty sales and partner sales environments . Most recently , Day was Sales Vice President for Asia Pacific and Japan at Dell EMC , where he led multiple teams to navigate complex customer cloud and Digital Transformation journeys . He has also held senior roles at NetApp and Hewlett-Packard .
In his new role , Day will be responsible for leading New Relic ’ s high-performing sales teams to grow its footprint in the region , while delivering go-to-market strategies and enhancing the partner ecosystem .
Gartner ’ s Top Strategic Technology Trends for 2023 report has demonstrated just how important observability is to the industry , with Applied Observability cited as the second most important trend for 2023 . This has also marked a shift from a reactive to proactive observability practice so that companies are able to define future business decisions .
The region has continued to demonstrate strong growth for the company with the opening of two offices in India , Bengaluru and Hyderabad over the past year covering product development , customer support , sales , marketing , developer relations , and solutions consulting .
