NEWS Redline Communications selected to provide secure connectivity for KSA oil company Redline Communications Group, a leading provider of industrial wireless broadband network connectivity solutions for mission-critical applications, has announced that, along with its certified partner, Al-Rushaid Technologies, it has been selected by one of KSA’s largest oil companies to provide secure connectivity across its vast oilfields. Al-Rushaid Technologies is the ICT and telecom powerhouse of Al-Rushaid Group and one of the fastest-growing technology solutions providers in KSA. The first phase of this multi-year contract is valued at over US$1 million. This new Redline terrestrial network will complement the existing satellite-based networks and enable industrial-grade, ultra-reliable, low latency, broadband connectivity to a diverse array of critical assets in the customer’s area of operations. This cutting-edge network will deliver significant efficiencies through Digital Transformation across the entire value chain and facilitate enhanced collaborative, security and safety applications. Redline’s new Virtual Fibre family of products was formally selected after an extensive proof-of-concept evaluation. The Redline and Al-Rushaid partnership was successful in demonstrating an unprecedented ability to deliver missioncritical networks in harsh industrial environments while providing militarygrade security and long-range, broadband connectivity to both fixed and mobile remote assets. Stephen J. Sorocky, CEO of Redline Communications, said: “We are excited to expand our business into the KSA and in the Gulf region, building upon our continuing success in the region. We look forward to our continued partnership with Al-Rushaid Technologies, a highly respected partner.” VMware opens Cairo office to support Egypt’s Digital Transformation VMware has opened its first office in Cairo in Egypt as it seeks to help the country drive Digital Transformation across a range of sectors, including government, education, healthcare and industry. VMware views the country as a key market in the Middle East and North Africa region. The new office will serve the local and regional market focusing on a range of services including support, commercial and technical sales, project management and cloud consultancy. VMware intends to hire more than 130 people in Egypt in the first year of operating the new office. Having a local presence in-country will support VMware’s vision to help companies build, run, manage, connect and protect any app on any cloud and any device. This is especially important in Egypt, which has a large population of young people, creating strong demand for quality customer experience and employment opportunities. The company is expanding ICT knowledge in Egypt through its partner programmes and through recent initiatives such as its collaboration with Egypt’s National Telecommunication Institute (NTI). VMware also formed a collaboration with Egypt’s Information Technology Institute (ITI), an affiliate of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) in April 2019, to support Egyptian ICT students with professional training. 6
