EDITOR’S COMMENT
W
elcome to the latest edition
of ITC magazine. Our cover
story this edition looks at how
channel partnerships are key
for the storage company Scale
Computing. We speak in detail
to Alan Conboy, Office of the
CTO at Scale Computing, about
the importance of the company’s
successful channel programme.
He tells us: “The channel is
critical to the way Scale Computing
operates, we have a 100% channel-
focused model and believe in working
within a close partnership. Our channel
partners have the local expertise, skills
and knowledge to help customers find the
best solutions for their needs.”
It’s not surprising then to discover that
Scale Computing works with its partners
throughout the entire sales process and
also offers training and assistance with
marketing to help channel partners grow
their businesses.
The relationship between the company
and partners is very much a two-way process
since it takes time to listen to its partners so
it can fully understand their needs as part of
a revamped partner programme.
This month’s Editor’s Comment looks
at the issue of efficiently managing data
for outstanding performance. We spoke to
Claude Schuck, Regional Manager for Middle

East and Central Africa at Veeam, to get his
take on this ever more important challenge.
Schuck tells us that modern-day
businesses face more than one challenge
when it comes to managing their data. He
stresses the importance of business leaders
having a detailed grasp of the full potential
of data and quite rightly so since the rapid
pace of change can make this difficult.
Paul Potgieter, Managing Director – UAE,
Dimension Data, stresses that for data to be
managed effectively companies need to align
it with their business strategies.
He’s quite right to point out that
nowadays data is a vitally important asset
for every organisation and we completely
agree with his argument that data is key to
businesses securing a competitive advantage.
We too feel it’s important to stress the
benefits effective data management can
bring to businesses. Not for nothing is data
often referred to as ‘the new oil’.
Vital then that businesses learn to tap
into this crucial resource so they can then
enjoy the riches it can potentially lead to.
