Former HP Executive Eli Kalil joins Mimecast to drive channel sales
Mimecast, a global email and data security company, announced Eli Kalil has joined the leadership team as Senior Vice President of Global Channel Sales. In this newly created position, Kalil will be responsible for the strategy and implementation of Mimecast’ s global channel programmes.
Kalil is a 30-year veteran in the enterprise information management and security industry. As the new head of channel sales, Kalil will be responsible for Mimecast’ s global channel programmes across current and prospective system integrators, VARs, MSPs, and distributors. Additionally, Kalil will be a member of the Go-to- Market Leadership team and will work closely with the general managers in each region to implement new ways to accelerate Mimecast’ s channel growth.
Most recently, Kalil was Vice President of Enterprise Security, Global Channel Partnership Sales for Hewlett- Packard Enterprise. He was responsible for leading all aspects of HP’ s enterprise channel sales.
As a seasoned channel executive, Kalil has worked with all types of channel partners. He has managed channel sales and services teams domestically and worldwide that have created partner programs for leading companies such as HP, CA, RSA Security, IBM, Dell, and EMC.

Enterprise migration to cloud drives expansion of VMWare regional team

VMware, a global vendor in cloud infrastructure and business mobility, announced several new appointments in Middle East and North Africa. This included the appointment of Mohammed Darras as Country Manager VMware UAE; Ahmed El Saadi as Country manager, VMware North Africa, Levant, and Egypt; and elevating Ossama Eldeeb to Senior Manager, MENA Partner Organisation, VMware.
This announcement comes at a time when customer demand for public cloud infrastructure, applications, and services, is expected to double in the region with market research firm Gartner, predicting a rise from $ 743 million in 2015 to $ 1.73 billion in 2020.
Mohammed Darras brings more than 19 years’ sales experience in the region, most recently serving as Regional Sales Manager for Cisco UAE.
Ahmed El Saadi has more than 12 years’ experience in his role at VMware, most recently serving as Regional Sales Manager in Cyber Security for North Africa for Palo Alto Networks.
With over 22 years’ business and IT experience, Ossama Eldeeb has been promoted internally from Senior Partner Business Manager, VMware MENA.
FireEye appoints Kevin Taylor to drive sales across EMEA
FireEye, the intelligence-led security company, announced Kevin Taylor has been appointed Vice President for Europe, Middle East and Africa. In his new role, Taylor oversees FireEye’ s business operations and sales across the EMEA region. He is based at the company’ s regional headquarters in United Kingdom.
Taylor previously excelled in global and regional sales leadership and general management roles at Symantec and Hewlett Packard. Most recently he was Chief Executive Officer of Storm Technologies.
FireEye has helped protect organisations in EMEA from cyberattacks since 2010. The company operates Advanced Threat Response Centers in Cork, Ireland and Munich, Germany, and has a team of FireEye Labs researchers in United Arab Emirates.
Faten Halabi to lead Avaya sales in Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, Pakistan
Avaya, a global leader in business communications, software, systems and services, announced the appointment of Faten Halabi as Regional Sales Leader for Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait and Pakistan. In this new role, Halabi will focus on driving business with partners in these four countries and work closely with customers to help them achieve their digital transformation objectives.
Halabi has been with Avaya since 2014, helping to transform the company’ s operations in Bahrain as Business Development Director and growing business with key partners. Having built strong relationships with key stakeholders in the industry, including integrators, consultants and developers, Halabi will ensure Avaya operations are aligned with companies’ business strategies across key verticals. Halabi will help to drive adoption of Avaya’ s latest innovative solutions, including Avaya Breeze, Avaya Oceana, and Avaya Equinox. Avaya has successfully transitioned into a software and services-led company, which today account for three quarters of revenue, and provides a range of cloud-based solutions and professional services, designed to help organisations achieve their digital transformation objectives more easily and cost-effectively.
